Minister Mitrović noted on the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina faces a special challenge since it shares a 1,000-kilometer border with the European Union.

“A modern and efficient transport network is the fundamental driver of every country's economy, and our task is to constantly think of and propose new ways to raise communication between countries to a higher level." The priority of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the railway connection of the Port of Ploče in the Republic of Croatia with the Port of Bar in Montenegro and the establishment of the future Čapljina - Trebinje - Nikšić – Podgorica railway line, for which appropriate feasibility studies were conducted in 2009. Therefore, our expectation is to better connect the region with the European Union", said Minister Mitrović.

The Transport Ministers of the six Western Balkan parties and representatives of the European Commission and EU Member States who attended the meeting all stressed the importance of regionally coordinated projects that will help coming closer to an integrated transport network and better connect the regional transport market with that of the EU.

Plans for a Road Transport Summit to be organised by the Transport Community Permanent Secretariat in Tirana in June were also presented to the Ministerial Council.
