The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at proposal of the Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, adopted the decision to ensure 4 million KM for Public Broadcasting Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina for studio and production capacities for the HD resolution signal production, and 3 million KM to the Entity Governments to encourage the development of electronic media sectors.

Moreover, the funds transferred to BHRT are intended for payment of the rights to broadcast the European Football Championship in 2024 and the Summer Olympic Games in 2024, respectively.

“This is the first step. The second one must be the urgent appointment of the FTV management structures in the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to regulate the method of collecting the RTV tax within the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in a fair manner. The third step is the adoption of a new law that will permanently regulate the stability of public services and from which all three services will have stronger support than today”, said the state-level Minister of Communications and Transport, Edin Forto.

He expressed his appreciation to the Ministers in the BiH Council of Ministers for their support in adopting this decision, and the employees of BHRT and FTV for their understanding and patience.

This intention with this decision is to ensure the financial stability of public services, which is one of the EU's 14 priorities for opening the negotiations, to enable the sustainability and functionality of the Public Broadcasting Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to create preconditions for the support and improvement of the telecommunications and electronic media sector in BiH.
