Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edin Forto, opened the Regional conference on media freedom, access to information and safety of journalists organised by the Unated Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia on the occassion of the International Day of Democracy and marking the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

„Media freedom and freedom of speech is something without which a democratic and liberal society cannot function. Today, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the freedom of speech as a pillar of democracy lacks the strength to resist new challenges. Therefore, we need to strengthen public broadcasting services in Bosnia and Herzegovina which should serve as platforms for public speaking and verified information, and to reach a consensus on how such services should look like and how to make them financially sustainable in the long term“, Minister Forto said.
