BiH Minister of Communications and Transport, Vojin Mitrović, held a meeting today with the FBiH Prime Minister, Fadil Novalić, RS Minister of Transport and Communications, Nedeljko Ćorić, Directors of Entity Road Companies, Elmedin Voloder and Slobodan Stanarević, the Mayor of Brčko District, Esad Kadrić, and the Brčko District Supervisor, Jonathan Mennuti, at which the highway corridors passing through the Brčko District were agreed.

As Minister Mitrović said, by reaching an agreement about the corridors, all obstacles to the implementation of important capital projects that are taking place intensively, above all on the highway route from Banja Luka to Bijeljina, have been removed.

"This is extremely important since the highways connect the Entities and BiH with the Western Balkan countries and the European Union as well. The highway that passes through Brčko towards Banja Luka and Sarajevo will bring a new dimension, and a new position and the possibility for better positioning of the District for foreign as well as domestic investors", said Minister Mitrović.

Prime Minister Novalić noted that, after the Corridor Vc, his Government will transfer part of its potential and capabilities to the road that concerns the area between Tuzla and Brčko District, which is part of the larger corridor that will connect Sarajevo and Belgrade.

“In terms of technical and technological matter, this is a huge step forward. The FBiH Government has been preparing the design since January andit is important to know where the connecting points are located in the South, at the entrance to Brčko, and in the North, towards Orašje," Novalić noted.

The RS Minister of Transport and Communications, Nedeljko Ćorić, stressed that, in addition to the future highway corridor, the future gas pipeline corridor that will run through Brčko, has been agreed today as well.

According to Mayor Kadrić, the Brčko District Assembly entrusted the Planning, Design and Development Institute of the Brčko District with preparing the changes of the spatial plan, to define the highway routes and create an official proposal, which, in accordance with the regulations of the profession, offered a solution that would not destroy inhabited places. Such document will be referred to the Parliamentary procedure, upon completion of public hearing.

The Brčko District Supervisor, Jonathan Mennuti, also attended today’s meeting at which the corridors were agreed. He assessed the project as of great importance for the entire Brčko region and beyond.
