At the beginning of his address, Minister Mitrović noted that everyone gathered here today in Brdo pri Kranju share a common interest which is to further develop a seamless and functional transport with all transport safety requirements being complied with because it is only such transport that makes sense and offers economic growth.
“Joint cooperation is vital in the field of transport. International strategic commitment should aim at reaching the highest quality of transport in every respect, and this is fully supported by Bosnia and Herzegovina. With respect to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the main challenges are the Corridor Vc completion, Sava River waterway rehabilitation, airport infrastructure upgrade and rehabilitation and construction of the infrastructure on the indicative TEN-T extension. However, the most important issue is a better transport connectivity with the neighbouring countries that we work hard to ensure”, Minister Mitrović said.
While adressing the attendies, Minister Mitrović outlined some other transport challenges that need to be resolved.
Border control wait time is one of the major challenges which utterly undermines the competitiveness and reliability of transport. We need integrated border crossings in order to increase the Western Balkans competitiveness. However, no serious progress is possible without active support and engagement of the EU countries bordering the Western Balkans, Minister Mitrović said, giving the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway as an example of a good cooperation.
