“We must not allow to further lag behind the region and Europe in terms of using the potentials of private public partnerships that are key for the implementation of infrastructure and other projects”, said the state-level Minister of Communications and Transport, Edin Forto, at his meeting with the delegation of the International Financial Corporation (IFC), member of the World Bank Group, headed by Afonso Garcia Moro, IFC’s Vice President for Europe and Latin America.

The IFC representatives said that the waste water treatment plant management project in the Sarajevo’s Butile could be an illustrative example of PPP financing model. They also added that the IFC has also actively supported drafting of the PPP law at the state level with the aim of facilitating the use of the potential of this type of infrastructure project financing, such as airports, but also energy projects.

“There is no justification for not using the opportunities for private public partnerships in Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to achieve significant momentum in infrastructure and other projects. Such an approach, proven on many projects in the region and the EU, results in economic growth and progress” said Minister Forto.

The meeting was held in Washington within the framework of the Spring Meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group at which Minister Forto is heading the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as Deputy Governor of BiH in the World Bank.
