Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edin Forto, welcomed the decision by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina to open a case based on the Report of the Audit Office of the Institutions of BiH on the performance audit “Entrusted public tasks under the competence of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina: case study: Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina”.

Minister Forto said that the Ministry remains fully at disposal to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH with the aim of a more comprehensive and good-quality analysis of all activities related to entrusted public tasks.

In view of multiannual problems with regards to entrusting public tasks and the views expressed by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Audit Office of the Institutions of BiH in their respective decisions, Minister Forto expects a final judgement will be given by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH on the legality of public tasks entrusted by the Ministry. It is something that he has insisted on from the very beginning of his mandate, after having requested an audit following accusations against the Ministry on the non-transparent award of contracts and entrusted public services.

“Following the recommendations of the Audit Office, I asked for the preparation of an Action Plan for their implementation, based on which the activities are already carried out. They include amending of legislation, regulating the method of collection and allocation of revenue based on completed public works, reviewing of the existing and adopting new service price lists, ensuring transparent assignment of tasks under the competence of the Ministry and, in particular, establishing of functional supervision over the performance of entrusted tasks”, said Minister Forto.
