BiH Minister of Communications and Transport paid an official visit to the Republic of Serbia during which he met with the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, with whom he discussed strengthening transport, primarily road, but also rail links that will strengthen the relation between the two countries and help the development of the region.

Minister Forto expressed his satisfaction about the discussion on the specific issues and announced future joint projects.

“It is exceptionally important to revitalise and modernise that the corridor from Banja Luka via Doboj and Tuzla to Zvornik and further to Serbia and to increase the flow of people and goods, which is crucial for the development of the two countries. Improving border-crossings that Serbia is already working on, particularly the one towards Serbia is also a necessity” said Minister Forto.

Minister Vasić noted that three expressways and a highway connecting Bosnia and Herzegovina are currently under construction: “The first one is Sremska Rača - Kuzmin, as part of the Belgrade - Sarajevo highway, the second is the Ruma - Šabac - Loznica expressway, which will have a connection with Bosnia and Herzegovina and the branch towards Badovinci, and the Požega - Kotroman road, which will enable a connection to Višegrad. We will have four border-crossings on the expressways and the highways, which is extremely valuable."

They both agreed to present a joint project to the European partners, stressing that such cooperation gives weight to the projects.
