BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
Minister Mitrović expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the Forum took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina hoping that this will also be the case when it comes to other activities and events the Ministry implements together with the Transport Community. He added that the dialogue on social issues in transport is vital for smooth transport operations, while the sound transport sector is the driver of each country's economy.
„The general aim we have set for ourselves is to have satisfied passengers, drivers and workers in transport sector. In that regard, bringing into line the social provisions in place in the Western Balkans countries with those applicable in the European Union is our priority, Minister Mitrović said.
Director of the Permanent Secretariat of the Transport Community, Matej Zakonjšek, noted that it was necessary to improve working conditions in the entire transport sector.
„We need to focus on the three complementary objectives in road transport: to ensure adequate social protection of workers, to guarantee fair competition among transport operators and to improve road safety. Once these objectives have been fulfilled, it will attract young men and women willing to engage in this profession, which is extremely important given that there is a lack of qualified labour force in transport sector“, said Director Zakonjšek.
The Forum brings together representatives from the Western Balkans Regional Partners, EU member countries and international organisations, and is expected to provide an opportunity to exchange experiences and good practices and find the most efficient way to implement social regulations in road transport by the Western Balkans countries.
